Jazz Appreciation Month – Wayman Tisdale (Week One)

April is celebrated as the National Jazz Appreciation Month! Yeah!

Jazz, a smooth blend of African and European music which was birthed somewhere around the early 20th century, is a combination of rhythm and blues. It is a harmonious intertwining of instruments and melodies that releases dopamine (a pleasure chemical) in the brain, causing one to experience a euphoric stimuli, a feel good sensation.

I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT IT SURE DOES WORK FOR ME! JAZZ MAKES ME FEEL GOOD!

So I decided to highlight a few of my favorite jazz artists and share some of their greatest hits with you this month of April. My husband was instrumental in introducing me to some of the best jazz musicians and artists this world has ever known. Thank you baby.

Week One, we will celebrate the unique sound of a left-handed bass player from my home town of Tulsa, Ok, named Wayman Tisdale. He graced this world with his beautiful gift of urban jazz before he went home to be with the Lord in 2009. We miss you Wayman, but thank you for leaving your legacy of splendor for us to enjoy. Your music.

Love,
Toni
