Several months ago I met a young woman who inspired me in the most sincere way. She is a born again Christian who loves the Lord and lives daily to do his will. She is also a published author of a book entitled, Insight In Sight, which can be found at Sylviehache.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. This phenomenal woman has been on talk shows on national TV and radio, sharing her testimony of coming out of the gay lifestyle and offering hope to people everywhere. Her name is Sylvie Hache and I had the wonderful opportunity to interview her.
Q: Good morning Sylvie, can you please describe in three words your writing.
A: Informative; controversial; thought-provoking
Q: Why do you write?
A: It’s my passion. I believe we are all born with various passions, gifts and talents which are given to us for the rightful purpose of sharing them with others to bring hope, encouragement, enjoyment and pleasure.
Q: How many books have you written and what genre?
A: I have written and published my first non-fiction Christian-based book entitled “Insight In Sight – Was I Born Like This?” I look forward to publishing more in the future.
Q: Do you belong to any writer’s associations or groups and if so, which ones?
A: Yes, probably too many to mention… lol.
Q: Who would you say is your biggest cheerleader or supporter?
A: As a writer, there are many times I find myself alone with pen and paper or computer, hoping for inspiration. Although I’ve received support and encouragement from various people along the way, my biggest supporter would have to be God – only He can answer my prayers to provide the insight I need, so I can write and share.
Q: Did you self-publish or traditional publish your book?
A: This first book has been self-published.
Q: Did you use a professional editor?
A: Yes, I did. However, now I edit my own work, and have it looked over by a trusted colleague prior to posting.
Q: What one word best describes you?
Q: Who are you reading right now if at all?
A: I’m usually in the process of reading several books at the same time. I read from many wonderful Christian authors who provide great wisdom, knowledge and encouragement to support my continued study of Truth through the Bible.
Q: How long did it take you to write your first draft of your book?
A: About a year. Then I took a year sabbatical. Then wrote my 2nd draft over the course of another year. Then prepared five additional drafts before writing this final published manuscript.
Q: Who or what inspired you to write?
A: The significant change in the quality of my life after learning the absolute truth inspired me to want to share this Truth with others – so they too, can experience the wonderful, peaceful and prosperous life we were all created to have and enjoy.
Q: How did you come up with the title for your book?
A: When it was time to submit my manuscript to the publisher, they of course required the title; yet I did not have one, but was compelled to submit “Insight In Sight” and it stayed.
Q: Who designed the cover?
A: My publisher, after careful consideration of my mission, purpose and intent.
Q: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
A: Figuring out how to write a book (since I never took book-writing classes); after that, figuring out where to start the story, what to include, how to present it and when to end.
Q: How do you market your books and what works best?
A: My book has been in book trade shows around the world, in Christian book stores within Canada and the US, and available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble in both hard-copy and ebook format. I have also conducted numerous radio and TV interviews. All these marketing avenues have been beneficial.
Q: How did you define your target audience?
A: My mission is to help youth, young adults, parents and Christians – whether gay, straight or questioning – who are struggling with homosexuality or same-sex attraction, and seeking answers and biblical truth to know if God created them to live this way.
Q: Where do you write/create best, indoors or out?
A: Both indoors and out; I find a change of scenery often results in new inspiration.
Q: In your book, Insight In Sight, you discuss homosexuality and about coming “out of” that lifestyle. Have you had much opposition regarding your subject matter?
A: Yes and no. “Yes” from those who do not understand what I’m trying to share, and “no” from those who do. My passion is to reach out to those who are lost and hurting, because I have walked in their shoes. I am simply here to help.
Q: Are you working on any new books at this time? If so, how far along are you?
A: Right now, I am focusing on conducting speaking engagements and meetings with youth, young adults, Christians and parents of children struggling with sexuality – to offer hope, help, answers and encouragement.
Q: Give three good tips for new aspiring writers?
A: 1. Never give up, cave in or quit. 2. Keep believing you are closer than you think. 3. Keep seeking and praying for wisdom, guidance and direction.
Thank you Sylvie and God bless you.
